Want another way to string your pearls or beads?   Hand knotting using silk thread is easier than you might think.  It drapes beautifully and can protect your pearls or beads from rubbing and wearing.  There are a variety of options in knotting to change the look from formal to fun and casual.   You will learn to knot silk and be able to make a pretty glass pearl necklace by taking this class.

Wire Wrap a Cabochon

$30 for the two hour class.  Minimum two students.

Do you have cabochons or undrilled slices and rocks you would love to make into pendants?  Then wire wrapping a cabochon is the class to take.   You will want to be wire wrapping everything.  

REQUIRED SUPPLIES: You need to bring a cabochon and some accent beads.  We suggest using an unusual shaped cabochon, not oval, which is harder to wire wrap.  The wire we will supply will be copper or silver plated craft wire.

Even if you don’t wear earrings, this is a great technique to add to your creative know how.  It will allow you to repair your jewelry or create new pieces.   In this class, you will learn about tools, techniques and materials to make simple loop earrings on a headpin.  You should be able to make two pair of earrings during the class.  You will also learn to join loops to hang two beads for your earrings or other creations.

You will learn to make wrapped loops, which are more durable than simple loops because they won’t accidentally come open causing you to potentially lose your beads.  You can use this same technique for adding beads to necklaces and bracelets and making bead connectors.  You should be able to make one pair of earrings.

Simple Simon Necklace

Enjoy a fresh and fun new class and learn to use our newest tool and you get to take it home!  Using the hollow round nose pliers creates simple loops easily!  Make a beautiful necklace with a series of beads joined with simple loops. 

REQUIRED SUPPLIES:  Around thirty 8-12mm beads, a two hole focal piece like the filigree in the sample.  You can also bring some extra charms and/or crystals if you want to dangle them from the focal piece.  Chain is always a nice addition to this necklace.  You can finish the back of the necklace with 1/2 strand of glass pearls, chain or fabric like sari silk.

This is a great beginning cwire-work-earringlass to find out about wire and wire working. Learn about different types of wire, gauge (sizes), which gauge to use and how to use wire working tools.  In class, you should be able to make one pair of earrings, including the earwires and a basic hook for hook and eye closure.  You should also be able to make one ring adorned with coils.  

REQUIRED SUPPLIES: Bring your own bead (6-10mm) for the center piece of the ring and two beads for your earrings.

Viking Knit Earrings
$30 for the two hour class

Instructor: Megan Kinman

Viking knit is a type of weaving and is easy to make.   Viking Knit chains are made from long pieces of wire that are hand worked into interconnecting loops.  Can be sporty or classically elegant! You will learn to work with a drawing plate to weave your wire into a chain.

REQUIRED SUPPLIES: One spool of 24 gauge silver or copper craft wire, two crystal beads that are 2-4mm, two small bead caps and two earwires.  We will provide the jumprings and the tools to learn Viking Knit.  Then when you fall in love with it, you can buy your own tools. You may not be able to finish both earrings, but you will learn the technique to finish the set.

Bump in the Road Necklace
$30 for the three hour class.  Minimum two students.

This necklace uses straight even count peyote with a pattern and the shape is created by using a variety of sizes of beads. This necklace is so interesting looking with it’s chevron design.   

REQUIRED SUPPLIES:  Four colors all together that are contrasting or coordinating:  11/0 seed beads; one tube of first color and 1/2 tube of second color.  8/0 seed beads; one tube of third color and 1/2 tube of the fourth color. Fifteen drops of your choice and a charm or button for a clasp.  Sample uses an angel wing.

Kumihimo Bracelet
$25 for the two hour class.

Prerequisite: None

Kumihimo is a Japanese form of braid making with interlacing strands, cords or ribbon.  Different designs and patterns are possible by changing your braiding material or varying the thickness or number of your strands giving you so many options.  

Required Supplies:  Two tubes of different colors of size 8 seed beads,  14 feet of 10 pound cord hemp and a clasp.    

PRIOR TO CLASS PLEASE HAVE THE FOLLOWING PREPARED: Eight pieces of hemp cord that are 20 inches long with four of the hemp cords having two inches of one color of the seed beads and the other four cords having two inches of the second color of seed beads.  Please tie all of the strung cords together at one end.

 Triple Wrap Bracelet with Macrame’

$25 for the three hour class including the leather.

This is a new version of the still so popular wrap bead bracelet.  It is a triple wrap, with the center wrap using larger beads and some macramé.  You can use other shapes besides square beads for your center wrap., including Tila or Tile beads. 

REQUIRED SUPPLIES:  One strand of 6-8mm round beads, seven to twelve larger beads  (10-12mm) or a strand of tile beads or a tube of tila beads, up to 4.5 feet of waxed linen or cotton, up to thirty 3-4mm fire polish or rondelle crystal for the center wrap.  One shank button for a clasp.  Make sure the button has a large enough shank for the leather to go through, at least 2mm.

Chip Tree of Life Pendant

The tree of life has been around or a long time, but it is still so popular and inspiring.  Using stone or glass chips, you can fashion your own leaves and the wire will make the branches and roots.  You can make your own tree of life in two hours, learn to wire wrap and use hammers, mandrels and other tools.  

REQUIRED SUPPLIES: One foot of 18 gauge craft wire and fourteen feet of 26 gauge craft wire.  You can bring your own chips or buy one of our $1.00 bags from our chip soup.  There are over 14 choices in stones and colors.  To complete your necklace, bring a chain and closure of your choice.

Peyote Stitch Bracelet

This class is designed to provide exposure to the basic peyote stitch. In addition to crafting the bracelet,  you will learn to create a toggle (bar and loop) using bead stitching and how to add and end your thread. 

REQUIRED SUPPLIES:  500-550 size 8/0 seed beads. It can be one color or two to four colors to use for a random design.

This wonderful wrap bead bracelet is still so popular.  This time we have two new versions, one is a double wrap with seed beads and a single wrap with tila and seed beads.  You should be able to finish either one of these bracelets in the class.  Once you learn this technique, you can make all types of wrap bracelets with a variety of beads and multiple wraps. 

REQUIRED SUPPLIES: Both bracelets will need a shank button for a clasp.  Make sure the button has a large enough shank for the leather to go through, at least 2mm.

Double Wrap—1/2 tube of 8/0 seed beads and 4mm fire polish that equals a strand.  You can use most left over beads around these sizes for this bracelet. 

Single Wrap with Tilas—1/2 tubeTila’s and one tube of 11/0 seed beads.

Prerequisite: MUST HAVE taken our Wrapped Bead Bracelet class or are very proficient in making Wrap Bead Bracelets.  You will most likely not finish this bracelet during the class time, but you will have learned everything you need to finish it later.

This cuff is made with five rows wide of three different types of beads  and it makes this amazingly beautiful bracelet.    

REQUIRED SUPPLIES for 7” BRACELET:  Five feet of 1mm leather, 8” strand of 8mm round beads (at least 24), one 16” strand of 4-5mm round or rondelle beads and one 16” strand of 3-4mm round or rondelle beads and a button with large shank that can accommodate four pieces of leather or add a split ring to the shank.

Moon Tree of Life Pendant

The tree of life has been around for a long time, but this is a very nice version with a flat bead behind that could look like the moon or sun.  You will learn to wire wrap and use hammers, mandrels and other tools.  So much fun!

REQUIRED SUPPLIES: One foot of 18 gauge craft wire and ten feet of 26 gauge craft wire.  For bead embellishment, you could bring an 18-22mm flat bead and one to three accent beads. To complete your necklace, bring a chain and closure of your choice.
